Description
The Hirschmann ACA21-USB (EEC) is a plug-in auto-configuration adapter built by Hirschmann, a Belden brand, to reduce downtime during commissioning and replacement of managed industrial Ethernet switches. By storing up to two complete versions of switch configuration data and operating software in its 64MB onboard memory, the adapter allows a replacement switch to be automatically restored on connection, eliminating the need for manual setup or specialist on-site network knowledge. The device plugs directly into the USB-A port on the switch and draws power from it, requiring no separate supply or installation tools. Diagnostics for read, write, and error states are displayed via LEDs on the connected switch, and configuration can be managed locally via USB or remotely through SNMP and web interfaces. The EEC variant is rated for extended environmental conditions with an operating temperature from -40°C to 70°C and storage from -40°C to 85°C, making it particularly well suited for outdoor cabinet installations, harsh industrial environments, and transportation infrastructure in Nordic and Baltic conditions. Vibration resistance meets IEC 60068-2-6 and shock resistance meets IEC 60068-2-27. Approvals include cUL 508, ISA 12.12.01 Class 1 Div. 2 for hazardous locations, DNV for shipbuilding, and EN50121-4 for railway transportation environments. MTBF is 359 years per MIL-HDBK-217F.
