Industrial-grade application server platform for multiple real-time controls
With its extremely fast deterministic behavior on up to 6 cores the COM Express Type 6 based Intel® Xeon® E2 industrial application server platform is capable to take over the control of multiple real-time and non-real time tasks including smart vision, artificial intelligence (AI), robotics control and – optionally – IIoT-based monitoring, maintenance and management. The application-ready, real multitasking capable industrial control platform utilizes the RTS Hypervisor from Real-Time Systems and targets the next generation of vision-based collaborative robotics, automation controls and autonomous vehicles that have to tackle multiple tasks in parallel, including situational awareness utilizing deep learning based AI algorithms.

All that OEM engineers require to combine all these tasks in one system is a multi-core embedded server platform and a real-time hypervisor. All companies involved in our workload consolidation demo did an excellent job, and I am sure that there are quite a few industrial customers who will be watching with great interest what we are presenting at Embedded World.”

All virtual machines are individually partitionable via the real-time hypervisor software
The demo of the COM Express Type 6 based Intel® Xeon® E2 industrial-grade application server platform integrates three application-ready, preconfigured virtual machines. One operates a Basler vision camera, where the vision-based object recognition runs on Linux via the Intel® OpenVino® software and the AI algorithms are executed on an Intel® Arria® 10 FPGA card from Refexces. The two independent real-time partitions run real-time Linux to control the balance of an inverted pendulum in real-time. Visitors can try to disturb the balance of the pendulums – the system will react instantly and with real-time behavior to keep the pendulums in balance.

To demonstrate the independence of these applications and the real-time behavior on a single server platform hosting several virtual machines, the Linux partition can be rebooted without any impact on the virtualized real-time system balancing the pendulums. All virtual machines are individually partitionable via the real-time hypervisor software from Real-Time Systems, providing perfectly tailored resources for the manifold real-time and non-real time tasks of next generation robotics, machinery and industrial controls integrated on one single industrial-grade application server platform.

20 years ago, Addtech consisted of about 50 subsidiaries and even then there was the ability to combine the small company’s efficiency, flexibility and personality, with the large group’s financial strength, long-term perspective and network.

Today, Addtech consist of 140 entrepreneur-driven subsidiaries, just over 3,000 fantastic employees and a common corporate culture.

Within Addtech’s focus area Sustainable Organization, there is a vision to have 40 percent women in leading positions by 2030. We still have some way to go, but the ambition is definitely to achieve the goal. A woman who holds a leading position within Addtech is Carolin Burlin, CEO of Recab, which is part of the Automation business area. Recab currently has about 35 employees in Sweden, Norway and Denmark and offers products and solutions in areas such as industrial automation.

– Recab works with many of the hot buzzwords that exist in the technology industry today; AI, Industry 4.0, Machine Learning and Embedded Computers. You absolutely do not have to be a technology nerd to work in a leading position in the technology industry, says Carolin. We should become better at highlighting female role models who like technology.

Technology is a big concept that includes an infinite number of products, solutions and tasks. Recab is well on its way to achieving the vision of 40 percent women in leading positions. According to Carolin, 33 percent of the company’s management today are women. – For us, it is important to have the right skills and commitment within the company, says Caroline.

As CEO of one of Addtech’s subsidiaries, I absolutely feel that there is genuine support from Group management to pursue the issue of gender equality. We must become even better at creating mixed workplaces where women and men together can contribute to the development of sustainable products and technology solutions.

It is created when there is an imbalance between negative and positive charges in an object. For example, when two objects get rubbed against each other. What an antistatic product do
Antistatic products are used in many different industries to manage static electricity. Static electricity is harmless to people but could be a disruptive factor in many occasions. To solve this problem, the object needs to get deionised, and that is what the products do.

Different kind of antistatic products 

There are different kinds of products for eliminating static electricity:

  • Antistatic rods

They are used for different occasions, but all of them work with deionisation to neutralize the static electricity from the object.

Benefits with laser technology as a measuring methodThere are many benefits with using laser technology as a measuring method. With this method it is possible to measure things that are usually very hard to measure such as inside a hole and ovality.

With this technology, the measuring point becomes very small, which makes the results very precise and credible. The laser also has an amplifier that have built-in smart features, for instance it can calculate the mean value of several different measuring points.
Another benefit with this measuring laser technology is that you can apply different filters in order to sort out dirt or other disturbing particles that could be in the way.

Different kinds of laser displacement sensors
There are different kinds of laser displacement sensors. From simple laser sensors that are all-in-one with laser head, amplifier and an output device, to more complicated ones that are sensationally rapid with a measuring speed up to 400khz and a small measure point at 20µm.

Red and blue laser Laser displacement sensors – What is – We guide you 
The laser displacement sensors have two different kinds of laser: blue laser and red laser. The red laser was the one that was used in the beginning and the blue laser is a more modern invention. The different between red and blue laser is that they use different wavelengths to detect on different materials such as steel, rubber and powder. Although, both blue and red lasers are used today because they work best on different materials, for instance blue laser is used when measuring on many difficult materials at the same time, for example rubber and steel.

Different methods
There are two different kinds of methods that are used in laser displacement sensors. Triangulation method and confocal method. Confocal method makes it possible to measure more deeper in a hole for instance.
