XMC/PMC:

PCI Mezzanine Card (PMC) is the de facto standard for mezzanine cards used in VME, Compact PCI and VPX ecosystems. PMC offers system designers a reliable add on using standard PCI bus.

XMC is a PMC with PCI Express communication to the host computer. A XMC usual implements PCIe x4 or x8, meaning a much higher bandwidth than the standard PMC. A typical XMC might have dual 10G Ethernet a FPGA , or graphical chip on board. XMC is also useful for storage solutions.
